Stunning pin-up poster for Jantzen swimwear by illustrator René Gruau. Printed in Portland, Oregon U.S.A.
Note the Jantzen diving girl logo to the right of the girl’s elbow.
René Gruau (1909-2004) was born into an aristocratic family in Italy and moved to Paris with his mother when he was a child.
He joined Dior in 1947 as artistic director and they worked together on Dior’s New Look.
In very nice condition, horizontal and vertical folds, and expert touch-up to cover up some writing.
